Mineral Makeup

Mineral Makeup has taken the beauty world by storm. In the biggest beauty trend ever, minerals have gone from a little known and tiny portion of the beauty market to full mainstream.

It all began in 1998, when Leslie Blodgett, CEO of Bare Escentuals, presented her Bare Minerals Foundation for the first time on TV shopping giant, QVC. It quickly sold out and has gone on to become QVC's top selling beauty brand, is also a top seller on eBay and has a successful infomercial.

Success spawns competition and this is no exception. From established cosmetics companies to new ones, there are new brands of mineral cosmetics appearing everywhere.

My own experience with mineral foundation also began in 1998. Discovering it was like a miracle for me. I was in my mid-30's and had been battling acne my entire adult life. When I started using it my acne stopped. The only time it has returned in those many years were the very few times I strayed to try the "latest and greatest" new foundation. I don't do that anymore!

There are so many good choices today in mineral foundations, it can be overwhelming!  I created this website to help others navigate through all the choices and find the best brand for them.  I started working on it in 2006 and since then the industry continues to grow!

The goal of this site is to provide information to anyone who is interested in learning more about mineral based cosmetics. Here you will find a comprehensive guide to products, color selections, brushes and tools and application techniques.  The choices are not easy anymore! Here is more information to help you out.

While most people associate this foundation with loose minerals, it also comes in loose and pressed.  Many people prefer one of these formulations.  This is a great choice for those you make a mess with the loose versions, plus it is much easier to touch up during the day,  Here are the best of each:

Liquid Foundations

Liquid foundations are for those with dry skin (although one formula is for oily skin) and those who prefer liquids over powders.  All of these contain skin care ingredients, meaning they are doing double duty by providing coverage and nourishing your skin.  People who use them seem to love them.  Here are the best ones:
