colors were designated by number and QVC started naming the colors. Now the shades
go by only the name and the numbers are no longer used. However, I
think using the numbers is more descriptive - and it allows an easier
comparison between shades - so both are given below.
Odd numbers are considered "cool" and even ones "warm". Colors ending with another number besides 0 are a mixture of 2 colors that end in a 0. (2.3 is a mixture of 2.0 and 3.0).
2.3 (medium Beige) is the most popular color. Before 2.3 was introduced, 3.0
(medium) was the best selling bare minerals foundation. I personally
feel that the colors have gotten lighter over the years. 3.0 (Medium)
used to be a perfect exact match to my skin, now I have to darken it up a
bit with Tan. (My skin color has not changed!)
The colors are very "forgiving" and most people can wear several colors. Some even mix different colors for a custom color, but the experts at Bare Escentuals say that probably isn't necessary.
