Mary
Kay Mineral Makeup is the latest entry into the ever growing mineral makeup
market, as minerals take a giant step into the main stream. The
foundation, which retails for $18 is available in 6 shades, it is also
available with the brush as a set for $28. The Mary Kay reps are being
trained to say that it costs "30% less than the leading brand" (meaning
bareMinerals is $25 & Mary Kay's is $18). There is a slight difference in
size - a regular size bareMinerals foundation is 0.3 ounce net weight,
compared to 0.28 ounce in the full size Mary Kay Mineral Foundation.
The ingredients in the Mary Kay Minerals are a bit different than most
mineral makeup - the #1 ingredient is listed a talc, with cornstarch (which
is a primary ingredient in
bareMineral's Mineral Veil) is listed second. It does not contain
Titanium Dioxide, which is the primary ingredient
in most mineral foundations. It does not contain
Bismuth. Mary Kay also
doesn't have an SPF "claim" with the foundation - so if you use it make sure
you use some other form of SPF. (See more on
Mineral Makeup Ingredients.)
