I have been wear Bare Minerals for years. When Mary Kay came out with their mineral makeup, I was excited. I had moved away from Mary Kay foundations for sensitivity issues.
I am 39 with very fair skin dotted with lots of freckles and burn easily. I don't even try to hide them, I embrace them. I tend to be oily and have very sensitive skin. I also break out very easily. With the wrong makeup I get blisters within a few hours.
I work in a salon and the first day I wore the Mary Kay makeup I got a lot of compliments, more than with my Bare Minerals. It seemed to last all day, and, as I read in your review, it did not leave me shiny or "glowy".
It did not provide as much coverage as the Bare Mineral foundation, so I needed to layer it on a bit more. A "full coverage" brush from my Bare Mineral kit came in handy for this. It was quick, convenient and did not seem to be quite as messy as the Bare Minerals. It was nice to have only one step!
The only thing I am disappointed about the mineral makeup is that it does not have an spf. I am allergic to most spf products and since I burn easily, I need to use something. I had been wearing Mary Kay products for years, but I started wearing the Bare Minerals because that was the only spf product my skin could tolerate. The titanium dioxide as the main block worked well. Other liquid products tend to give me hives or blisters.
Overall it is a very good product, I just really wish it had an SPF!!!!!
Hi Petty I love the MK mineral makeup too, I also switched. I also use the day moisturizer and it has an spf of 25. It's the best - it leaves my skin feeling awesome and I find that the foundation goes on even better. Hope this helps
